Specialized Units: Officers can explore roles in the K9 Unit, Regional Emergency Response Team (ERT), Drone/UAS Unit, Bicycle Unit, Motor Unit, Community Services Unit and Honor Guard.
Investigative Services: Our Detective Division, School Resource Officers, and Quality of Life Unit focus on solving complex cases and improving community well-being.
Traffic and Safety: The Traffic Enforcement and Crash Investigation Units are dedicated to maintaining safety on Newtown's roadways.

The Newtown Police Department will conduct an extensive background investigation on each applicant once a conditional offer of employment is given. This will include examination of each candidate’s driving history, criminal record, employment history, financial history, and past/present illegal drug use. Prior conduct in police/security/corrections fields along with basic honesty and integrity will be extensively examined.

Accreditation Manager (part-time 25 hours): Deadline extended until 8/25/2025
The Newtown Police Department seeks a highly qualified and experienced POST Accreditation Manager to oversee and ensure compliance with the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council's accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will review, update, and maintain departmental policies to align with current POST standards and gather and organize the necessary documents to demonstrate ongoing compliance. The POST Accreditation Manager will work collaboratively with departmental leadership, training officers, and external stakeholders to guarantee the Newtown Police Department's adherence to the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.
