Today
Newtown Police Department is comprised of 46 Sworn Officers & three civilian support staff (2025).
In the begining
Newtown PD was first organized in September 1971. 17 Officers were sworn in under the Command of Chief Lou Marchese. Before 1971, Newtown was patrolled by constables under the command of the State Police.
30 years
Celebrating 30 years as an organized police department with 42 police officers.
50 years
Celebrating 50 years as an organized police department with 45 police officers.
